Governance, AI, and Privacy
How the Village Is Run
The village is not a product. It is not a company. It is a stewarded project. Here is how it works.
Invitation-First
No one can self-publish. You submit a request. A steward reviews it. If your project is rooted in Kauaʻi and aligns with the village values, you are invited to set up a home. This is intentional — it keeps the village small, genuine, and trustworthy.
Stewarded, Not Automated
A real person reviews every request, every home, every piece of content before it goes live. The steward is not a moderator — they are a caretaker. They make sure the village stays coherent, honest, and grounded.
AI Assists, Humans Decide
AI helps write descriptions and generate content for homes. But nothing AI creates is published without human review. The AI is a quiet carpenter — it builds drafts. The steward decides what stays.
Privacy by Default
The village does not track visitors. No analytics, no cookies, no scroll monitoring. Villager personal information (email, phone) is stored in a separate private database and is never displayed publicly. There are no algorithms deciding what you see.
We do not optimize for engagement. We optimize for honesty.
